What's new in Seedr downloads, October 2026

In the last few weeks we tuned how Seedr delivers your files and how it fetches them. Here is what is new, with numbers where we measured them.
Downloads tuned for speed over HTTP/3
We tuned the HTTP/3 (QUIC) settings of our download servers, choosing each setting with a controlled experiment on real connections instead of guessing: pacing, loss recovery and the initial window (12 October).
In our tests on real connections, the average download speed over HTTP/3 rose by about 50% with the new settings. Real speeds depend on your own connection, and a download only uses HTTP/3 when your browser or app supports it.
Stuck downloads now finish
Some free-plan magnet links used to stall at 0%. About 60% of free adds were stuck on 7 October and about 1% on 9 October, and the stuck downloads were resumed.
On the free plan one link downloads at a time. Paid plans download several links in parallel.
Downloads that used to hang at "verifying" or around 99% now finish, and re-checking a finished file no longer loops (7 and 8 October).
Downloads that contain several files with the same name now download and import correctly (7 October). New downloads are also no longer sent to a server that is missing or switched off, so they no longer sit at 0% forever.
HTTP/3 reaches more networks
Some networks block the standard UDP port that HTTP/3 uses, so those users fell back to older, slower connections. We added an alternate UDP port so more connections can use HTTP/3. On one group of servers in India, the share of downloads over HTTP/3 went from 0% to 25% (12 October).
Browsers also remember that Seedr supports HTTP/3 for 30 days now, so returning visitors start on HTTP/3 right away instead of trying the older protocol first.
Clear messages when a tracker has a problem
When a download uses a tracker that cannot be reached, rejects the request, or has no address, Seedr now tells you which of the three it is, with a "How to fix" line in 12 languages. Before, many network problems were wrongly shown as "rejected" (7 and 8 October).
Private trackers need a Pro plan or higher.
More link sites supported
We updated the resolver that turns a page link into a downloadable file, so more supported sites work when you paste a link into Seedr. Direct links and magnet links work as before.
Some links still cannot be fetched: pages that need you to be signed in to another service, and sites that block automated access.
And a few smaller fixes
Adding a magnet link or file that Seedr has already finished downloading returns it immediately, with no duplicate task (13 October).
When a download limit applies, Seedr now answers with a clear "try again in N seconds" message instead of a server error, including for folder (zip) downloads on the free plan (12 October).
File and folder names with emoji and non-Latin scripts, including names inside downloads and zip files, are now stored and shown exactly, character for character (12 October).
